7TH SICILIAN FILM FESTIVAL
1. LOCATION AND DATE
Next Sicilian Film Festival "North South East West" will take place for the 6th time year – dates from in Miami Beach from April 11st – April 17st 2012.
2.SECTIONS
2.1 Sicilian Themes
SFF promotes preferably films
l shot in Sicily or
l with a theme related to Sicily or
l inspired by people with Sicilian backgrounds
l made with the contribution of a Sicilian or Southern Italian, or – Sicilian or Southern Italian descendant (screenplay writer, director, picture director, set designer, music composer or actor) or
l inspired by books or publications of Sicilian writers or with Sicilian backgrounds or inspired to southern Italy
l or films already screened at recognized festivals in Sicily.
2.2 Mediterranean Countries
The section “Sicily, Cultural Catalyst of Mediterranean Sea” is open to Mediterranean countries.
2.3 Foreign Cultures of Sicily
The section “Foreign Cultures in Sicily’s History” is open to all countries that have historical relations with Sicily.
2.4 World
The non-competitive section “Sicily and the World North – South – East – West” is open to films selected for their high quality, and come from all over the world.
2.5 Retrospectives and recognitions
Besides the above mentioned sections the Festival may include retrospectives and recognitions to all with or without Sicilian backgrounds who have contributed to promote Sicilian Cinema.
3. OFFICIAL SELECTION
3.1 International competition
It is open to feature movies made within 3 years from the date of the festival (2008 for the 2011 annual event). All the movies must have English subtitles. Movies in English must have Italian subtitles.
3.2 Outside the competition
It is possible to present a movie without competing.
3.3 Short Films International Competition
Short films for the international competition can be fiction, animation, video art and documentaries. They must be 30 minutes or less. Exceptions will be considered for special works. The selection criteria are the same as for the feature movies.
4. JURY AND AWARDS
4.1 Feature movies
An International Jury composed of 5 to 7 personalities in the cinema and cultural fields, as well as people previously recognized by SFF will give the following awards:
- best film
- best director
- best actor
- best actress
- best film or fiction for TV
- best artistic and technical contribution (one or more mentions)
4.2 Shorts and Documentaries
The same Jury will assign the following awards::
- best short
- best documentary
- one or more Special Mentions.
4.3 Career Achievement Award
The International Jury may give a special career achievement award to an actor or director or artist for his work based in or on Sicily.
5. JURY REGULATION
The Jury will operate with its own regulation; the President of Festival or his delegate and the Artistic Director of the programs can attend with consulting purposes
6. OBBLIGATIONS
The producers and the distributors of the movies awarded at SFF must mention in their communication and in the movie itself the award received by SFF.
7.SELECTION OF THE FILMS
7.1 Conditions of admission to selection
Both for feature movies and shorts are required DVD PAL or NTSC (35mm is not required)
7.2 Means of selection
The President of the Festival will be supported in the selection by the Artistic Director and other experts.
7.3 Application Fees
No application fees are required in order to submit films.
7.4 Materials to send for pre-selection ( Films and shorts must be sent within January 31, 2011)
1. Entry Form must be printed out from the website in 2 copies, completed and mailed together with the DVD and the signed regulation both to the Rome and Miami addresses of the festival,and also e-mailed to emanuele@bellsouth.net and to salvobit@yahoo.it (copy and paste and complete as email text or word)
2. Regulation must be printed out from website in 2 copies, signed for approval and mailed together with the DVD and the entry form both to the Rome and Miami addresses of the festival
3. Photos of the director and the movie and press kit must be mailed together with the DVDs and also e-mailed to emanuele@bellsouth.net and to salvobit@yahoo.it
4. One copy of DVD, Entry Form and signed Regulation must be mailed to the Miami address of the Festival: Sicilian Film Festival, 8300 Hawthorne Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, USA and
5. One copy of DVD Entry Form and signed Regulation must be mailed to the Rome address of the Festival: Sicilian Film Festival – Segreteria Italiana c/o Salvo Bitonti, via Ceriani 1, 00165 Roma
The Festival will not return any material if selected. The materials not selected can be sent back only if a pre-paid express mailing is provided.
The selected materials can be used after the Miami edition of the festival in other events related to SFF or other editions of the festival.
8.SELECTED FILMS
8.1 An official e-mail confirmation will be sent to the provided e-mail address for the films selected for screening .
8.2 Copies
An original copy of the movies selected for screening must be sent within February 15, 2011.
Movies must have English subtitles at sender’s expenses.
The Direction may refuse copies not enough high quality for screening.
9.CATALOGUE
All material for the catalog (synopsis, artistic and technical cast, biography and filmography of directors, photos and comments) must be sent in Italian and English within February 15, 2011 as “Material for catalogue” . It is necessary is to copy and paste the Entry Form from the website into an e-mail and send after completion to emanuele@bellsouth.net and to salvobit@yahoo.it along with photos.
10.MAILING AND INSURANCE
10.1All the expenses for mailing any kind of material to and from the Festival are at original sender’s charge.

10.3 Insurance
Mailing insurance, if applicable, is at original sender’s charge.
Litigations on the interpretation of regulation must be based on the Italian original text.
REGOLAMENTO VII SICILIAN FILM FESTIVAL
1. DATA E LUOGO
La settina edizione del Sicilian film Festival "Nord Sud Est Ovest" si terrà a Miami e Miami Beach (Florida) dall’11 al 17 aprile 2012.
2.SEZIONI
2.1 Tematiche Siciliane
Il Festival vuole favorire la conoscenza e la diffusione del cinema con particolare riguardo a film:
l prevalentemente girati in Sicilia o nel meridione d’Italia
l che trattino temi salienti legati alla Sicilia o nel meridione d’Italia
l pellicole che vedano la partecipazione di un regista o di uno sceneggiatore, di un direttore della fotografia, di uno scenografo, di autore delle musiche o di attori siciliani o di origine siciliana o meridionale
l ispirati da scritti di autori siciliani o di origine siciliana o ispirati all’Italia del Sud
l anche non aventi altra relazione con la Sicilia che essere vincitori di un riconosciuto festival siciliano.
2.2 Paesi del mediterraneo
La sezione: “Sicilia, catalizzatore culturale del Mediterraneo” e’ aperta ai paesi del bacino mediterraneo.
2.3 Culture Ospiti
La sezione “Culture Ospiti della Sicilia nella storia” e’ aperta a tutti quei paesi che hanno fatto parte della storia della Sicilia.
2.4 La Sicilia e il Mondo
La sezione non competitiva “La Sicilia e il Mondo Nord Sud Est Ovest” e’ aperta a pellicole scelte per la loro elevata qualità provenienti da paesi di tutto il mondo.
2.5 Retrospettive ed omaggi
Oltre alle sezioni menzionate nei paragrafi seguenti, il Festival potrà includere retrospettive e omaggi a personalità di rilievo cinematografico internazionale di origine siciliana o meridionale e non che abbiano contribuito alla promozione del Cinema Siciliano.
3. SELEZIONE UFFICIALE
3.1 Concorso internazionale
Al concorso internazionale possono partecipare i lungometraggi realizzati non anteriormente ai tre anni precedenti (il 2008 per l’edizione 2011)
3.2 Fuori Concorso
Alcune opere su espressa richiesta degli autori, possono partecipare fuori concorso. .
3.3 Cortometraggi
Concorso internazionale di cortometraggi. La durata dei cortometraggi non dovrà superare i 30 minuti. Per i corti valgono gli stessi criteri di selezione dei lungometraggi. Saranno ammesse opere di fiction , d’animazione, di video arte e documentari.
4 . GIURIA E PREMI
4.1 Lungometraggi.
Una Giuria Internazionale, composta da 5 a 7 personalità del cinema e della cultura di diversi Paesi, con priorità data agli artisti che hanno ricevuto un premio nell’edizione precedente, assegnerà per i lungometraggi i premi seguenti:
- il miglior film
- la migliore regia
- la migliore interpretazione maschile
- la migliore interpretazione femminile
- il miglior film o fiction per la televisione
- il migliore contributo tecnico e artistico (con possibilità di uno o più menzioni)
4.2 Cortometraggi e Documentari
La stessa Giuria Internazionale assegnerà per i cortometraggi ed i documentari i premi:
- miglior cortometraggio
- miglior documentario
- una o più Menzioni Speciali.
4.3 Premio Speciale alla Carriera
- Potrà essere inoltre attribuito dalla Giuria un eventuale premio speciale per l’insieme dell’opera e alla carriera a un regista o attore o attrice di un film presentato o una grande personalità del cinema con origine siciliane o nella cui opera abbia avuto centralità la Sicilia.
5 . REGOLAMENTO DELLA GIURIA
La Giuria opererà secondo un proprio regolamento; ai lavori potrà assistere il Presidente del Festival o un suo delegato con funzione consultiva nonché il Direttore della programmazione
6. MENZIONI OBBLIGATORIE
I produttori e i distributori dei film presentati si impegnano a citare, per ciascun film premiato, nella propria comunicazione e nello stesso film la menzione del premio ricevuto, il logo del Festival e dei suoi partner.
7 .SELEZIONE DELLE OPERE
7.1 Condizioni di ammissione alla selezione
Sia per i lungometraggi che per i cortometraggi sono ammessi i formati di proiezione DVD PAL o NTSC: 35mm. Non sono richiesti lavori in pellicola 35mm.
7.2 Modalità di selezione
Il Presidente del festival, per quanto attiene alla selezione delle opere proposte, sarà coadiuvato nella sua scelta dal curatore della programmazione e da altri esperti.
7.3 Diritti di iscrizione
Non sono richiesti diritti di iscrizione o di segreteria.
7 .4 Materiali da inviare per la selezione
Per essere ammessi alla selezione i partecipanti con film e corti devono presentare entro il 31 gennaio 2011:
1) la scheda di pre-selezione (Entry-Form) includente breve sinossi in lingua italiana e inglese, bio-filmografia del regista, cast artistico e tecnico, deve essere stampata dal sito in due copie, compilata e inviata per posta assieme al DVD ed al Regolamento firmato per accettazione ai due indirizzi di Miami e di Roma del Festival. Inoltre deve essere compilata in formato virtuale e spedita per e-mail a emanuele@bellsouth.net e salvobit@yahoo.it (copia e incolla entry form dal sito come testo email o word opportunamente compilato)
2) Il Regolamento deve essere stampato dal sito in due copie, firmato per approvazione e spedito assieme al DVD e all’entry form sia a Roma che a Miami.
3) foto del regista e foto del film e una cartella stampa devono essere spedite per posta assieme al DVD e in formato virtuale per e-mail a emanuele@bellsouth.net e salvobit@yahoo.it
4) una copia del DVD, Entry form e Regolamento firmato deve essere recapitata all’indirizzo del Festival a Miami: Sicilian Film Festival, 8300 Hawthorne Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, USA
5) una copia del DVD, deve essere recapitata all’indirizzo del Festival a Roma: Sicilian Film Festival – Segreteria Italiana c/o Salvo Bitonti, via Ceriani 1, 00165 Roma
Il Festival non è tenuto a restituire le opere inviate per la selezione ma non prescelte a meno che queste non pervengano con rispedizione prepagata tramite servizio di consegna espressa .
Le opere prescelte potranno essere usate, dopo l’edizione di Miami e Miami Beach, per altri eventi collegati ed altre edizioni del SFF.
8 . OPERE INVITATE
8.1 Scheda di partecipazione
I film invitati ricevono una comunicazione ufficiale del festival all’indirizzo e-mail precedentemente fornito
8.2 Copie
I titolari dei film invitati devono inviare entro e non oltre il 15 febbraio 2011:
- 1 copia in versione originale con sottotitoli (inglesi per i film italiani), per le proiezioni ufficiali;
- Si tenga presente che i film e i corti devono essere obbligatoriamente sottotitolati in inglese
Le spese di sottotitolaggio sono in ogni caso a carico dei presentatori.
La Direzione si riserva il diritto di rifiutare copie che, al controllo dei tecnici del festival , risultino inadeguate a una buona proiezione pubblica.
9. Catalogo
Tutto il materiale necessario per il catalogo del festival (sinossi, cast artistico e tecnico, biografia e filmografia completa del regista, fotografie del regista e di attori e scene del film in b/n e a colori, breve commento del regista sul film) dovrà pervenire al più presto e comunque non oltre il 15 febbraio 2011 per email e dovrà riportare l’indicazione “Materiale per redazione catalogo”. Il tutto in italiano ed in inglese. Per questo occorre compilare la scheda di pre-selezione in formato virtuale come da entry-form su sito e spedire a emanuele@bellsouth.net e salvobit@yahoo.it assieme alle foto.
10. TRASPORTI E ASSICURAZIONE
10.1 Spese di trasporto
Le spese relative al trasporto dei film dal luogo d’origine alla sede del Festival e ritorno sono a carico dei presentatori.

10.3 Assicurazione del trasporto
È a carico dei presentatori la copertura assicurativa inerente al trasporto di andata e ritorno delle pellicole e del materiale stampa.
Per ogni eventuale contestazione sull’interpretazione dei singoli articoli del Regolamento fa fede il testo originale redatto in lingua italiana.
